1st Indian Railway 1853
India’s first commercial passenger train pulled out of Bori Bunder station in Bombay in 1853,was dedicated by Lord Dalhousie, it travelled only 34 kilometres in an hour and a half.It consisted of 14 cars being hauled by three steam locomotives Sahib, Sindh, and Sultan., and carried 400 passengers.
On April 16th, at 3:35pm, the first train in India leaves Bombay for Thane. Initial scheduled services consist of two trains each way between Bombay and Thane and later Bombay and Mahim via Dadar.
