India's First Hydrogen Train: A Step Towards Green Mobility

India has taken a major step toward sustainable transportation with the launch of its first hydrogen-powered train. The train will operate between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana, covering a distance of approximately 88 kilometers. This initiative reflects the country's commitment to cleaner, greener, and more innovative public transport.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted that the hydrogen train is a remarkable example of the "Make in India" initiative and a significant milestone in India's green mobility journey. Hydrogen-powered trains emit only water vapor, making them an eco-friendly alternative to conventional diesel-powered trains.
The train is designed to stop at 12 stations along its route and can reach a top speed of around 110 km/h. By adopting hydrogen fuel technology, Indian Railways aims to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, and support the nation's long-term environmental goals.
Apart from being environmentally friendly, this project showcases India's growing technological capabilities in railway innovation. It is expected to pave the way for more hydrogen-powered trains across the country in the coming years.
